Principles of Fiber Optic Sensors

1 INTRODUCTION

Optical fiber sensors are emerging as an important application of optoelectronic systems. During the 30 or more years since they were first proposed [1], they have matured from a concept into a technology that—typically for sensor systems—is finding important niche applications.
