Summary

In this chapter you learned about OPENXML(). You learned how to “shred” or break down nonrelational XML data into relational pieces that you can manipulate with Transact-SQL. You learned to supply basic XPath strings to navigate an XML document via OPENXML(), and you learned to insert data into a table using OPENXML() as your data source. You also learned about the forthcoming Web Release 1, and the impact it will have on SQL Server's XML functionality, and you were introduced to a couple of handy stored procedures that should make life easier for you if you end up doing much with SQL Server's XML facilities.
