1.3. Setting up your development environment

We understand that everyone is different, with different needs and affinities, but unfortunately, we can’t cover every IDE or “way” to work with GWT. In this book we’ll use the tools that are at the time of this writing the best fit for use with GWT. If you’re new to GWT we strongly suggest that you follow our lead and use the tools we recommend. As you gain proficiency in GWT, you’ll find it’s much easier to use other tooling that we don’t cover in this book.

For this book the “way” is to use the Eclipse IDE along with the Google Plugin for Eclipse, which provides many wizards as well as code completion for GWT-specific files. And best of all they’re both free.
