The EI assessments most commonly used in South Africa for individuals are the various forms of BarOn Emotional Quotient Inventory (EQ-i®) (Bar-On, 1997) and the Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT®) (Mayer, Salovey, & Caruso, 2002). For organizations, the Benchmark of Organizational Emotional Intelligence (BOEI™) (Stein & MHS Staff, 2005) is often used.
