22 Asset Integrity and Reliability in the LAPP

22.1 RBPS Element 10: Asset Integrity and Reliability

An Asset Integrity and Reliability program consists of systematic procedures and practices used to ensure that LAPP equipment is maintained in accordance with the design and construction specifications. Deficiencies in this element may lead to unexpected equipment failure, becoming a root cause or significant contributor in loss of control or containment incidents. Ensuring the integrity of the equipment improves the reliability of the equipment and systems so that they will operate as expected when needed.

This element is used to:

  • Prevent loss of control or loss of containment events involving hazardous materials or energy
  • Maintain equipment and system integrity
  • Maintain the safeguards that protect against and minimize impacts of incidents
  • Ensure the reliability of safety, utility, and LAPP equipment and systems

A well‐structured and managed asset integrity and reliability program includes procedures that:

  • Identify the equipment and systems to be scheduled for specific inspection, testing, and preventive maintenance (ITPM) tasks
  • Develop and maintain the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to maintain the equipment
  • Ensure a well‐executed inspection, testing, calibration, and on the equipment
  • Evaluate and address any identified equipment deficiencies

The integrity and reliability of all equipment, instruments and software control systems include but are not limited to ...
