Aims of the volume

The present handbook provides a tour dhorizon of linguistic approaches to business communication. It brings together various strands of research, ranging from traditional LSP approaches (Languages for Special Purposes or Fachsprachenforschung) to contemporary discourse-based work. While it is true that business communication research is a highly diverse field that accommodates many different disciplines, it is equally so that applied linguistics has special competencies to bring to the task.
