Transportation, Land
The subject area “Transportation, Land” deals with notable events in the history of travel over the terrestrial surface of the Earth. It is followed by two companion sections dealing with transportation over water and in the air. The order of the three sections reflects the historic sequence in which these transportation modes came imto use. In terms of the energy source for land transportation, obviously the earliest was human power itself; i.e., running or walking.
