Goal
Design, build, and manage a temporary private optical network to support an 18-month migration from three data centers in the greater New York metropolitan area into a single, new data center. The migration took place from 2009 to 2010.
Design considerations
The network was to be used both to migrate data from the legacy sites and to support the migration of application groups. The network would allow sets of applications that were interconnected with one another to be migrated separately by utilizing the migration network as an extended backbone.
