Based on detection of the presence of slide body resonance, an AE signal can be used not only to detect the presence of slider-disk impact, but also to identify the detailed dynamics characteristics associated with contact. When a slider glides or slides on a disk making impact or continuous contact with bumps or asperities on disk, the AE signal can be recorded continuously and is Fourier transformed into the frequency domain.
