Building Green—Litigation and Liability Issues
Abstract
This chapter basically starts with a general overview of the litigation industry and other liability-related issues such as green material and products claims, etc. Building failure, negligence, and standard of care were also discussed. It is shown that the majority of insurance claims today are building envelope related (including roofs, EIFS, windows, masonry, etc.); not far behind are claims relating to building code issues, followed by mold-related claims, which have recently become a major concern for the insurance industry.
