There are many types of image projectors, for many applications and with different configurations. All the slide or movie projectors work with the same basic optical principles. However, the classic slide projectors and the home movie projectors have now lost much of their popularity owing to the new computer and home theater liquid crystal display (LCD) projectors. A description of most of the main types of projectors can be found in some books (Gross 2007; Ray 2002).
