15Dekonstruktion: Die Rhetorik im philosophischen Text

Abstract: This article reconstructs traces of the rhetorical tradition in Derrida’s project of deconstructing occidental metaphysics. First, Derrida’s reception within academic philosophy will be discussed. Habermas, for instance, criticises that Derrida replaces logical and argumentative rigor by rhetorical orchestration. In order to critically reflect this allegation this article doesn’t only explore the crucial concepts and thought patterns (deconstruction, scripture, text, trace, différance) Derrida gains from Husserl’s and Freud’s oeuvres, but also broaches the issue of rhetoric and style of Derrida’s writings.
