When dealing with data sources for an Excel data model, they can either be external or they can be Excel tables from the current workbook.
Much like we did when building a data model with Power BI Desktop in Chapter 3, Building Data Models, we'll start by importing some data from an Access database. Once we have done this and made sure the relationships between tables are correct, we'll add data from a table to the current workbook:
- To start, click on the Manage icon in the Data Model section of the Power Pivot ribbon. This will open the Power Pivot window, as shown in Figure 4-5:
