Using Azure Backup to protect on-premises resources requires a little more work. After selecting on-premises resources in the Azure Backup configuration, we get a different list from the one when we selected Azure resources. We can choose between Files and folders, Hyper-V Virtual Machines, VMware Virtual Machines, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Exchange, System state, and Bare Metal Recovery.
After configuration in the Azure portal, we need to install the Recovery Service Agent, which will allow us to register on-premises resources in the recovery services vault. A screenshot of the Recovery Service Agent is shown here:
