Advanced Effects and Playback Options

The introduction of Flash 8 saw the addition of the BitmapData class, a highly versatile object that allows for the varied manipulation of bitmaps inside a Flash movie at runtime. With its help, you can create very complex images and effects, some of which are ideally suited for video content.

Through the BitmapData class, you can now apply filters like drop shadow, blur, glow, bevel, gradient glow, and gradient bevel to MovieClips, buttons and text. All that’s required to add these effects to on-demand or even live video is to first convert your video object on Stage into a MovieClip.
