Recovering Databases from Problems
Now that you have a general idea of Oracle's database recovery options, the following two exercises teach you how to use RMAN to recover your starter database from a simulated system crash, and then from the simulated loss of a data file.
The exercises in this section build upon the previous exercises in this chapter. In other words, you cannot complete the following exercises unless you configure your starter database to operate with media recovery enabled (ARCHIVELOG mode) and to archive online log groups as they fill, and you have data file backup sets for all data files in the database.
