Appendix B. Sharing Data Cloud Data Externally with Other Tools and Platforms
Figure 3-4 highlights 12 Data Cloud key value activities in which business value can be realized by leveraging various Data Cloud components, such as calculated and streaming insights, segments, data graphs, and vector databases. Most of the key value activities are designed to extract value by exploring and taking action with data directly within Salesforce, but there are some key value activities in which it’s expected that external tools or platforms will be leveraged. Here is a list of those key value activities where Data Cloud data and insights are likely to be shared with external tools and platforms that are part of your existing technology stack:
- Data sharing with external platforms
- Activation of segments
- Data actions and Data Cloud‒triggered flows
- Programmatic extraction of data
- Analytics and intelligent data visualization
Data sharing with external platforms can be accomplished bidirectionally using the BYOL capabilities that leverage the Salesforce Zero Copy Partner Network. Data Cloud data shares give access to Data Cloud data while within an external data platform like Snowflake or Google BigQuery. These data shares can be used outside of Salesforce in near real time, and data shares and bidirectional data sharing are discussed in detail in Chapter 13.
