It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Text messages (e-mail, chat, and so on) have become the most widespread method of communication, so there is much value to be extracted by making all text searchable and readily available for further analysis. This common scenario is applicable to different use cases where you have large volumes (ongoing) of content updates that need to be pushed into live search indexes and content should be instantly (near real-time) searchable.
Some common use cases that involve text analysis are customer satisfaction, customer sentiment analysis of the people texting, interest of the customer on which targeted advertising can be done, and others.
