Most of us are in a perpetual state of overload and stress from new technologies, globalization, demands for innovation, and a shrinking workforce. Additionally, many of us work in a matrix-run organization, meaning we are accountable to more than one boss. In sum, we are told to achieve more, more efficiently, faster, and with fewer people.
In many organizations, this results in giving the most capable people more to do—leading to their stress and burnout—and sacking the less efficient managers.
