8  The Future and Digital Broadcasting

The DTV transition is no longer about converting to a digital transmission infrastructure. Television “broadcasting” is now about producing and delivering content over every possible delivery channel to any consumer device, anywhere for consumption at any time.

As of late 2006, virtually every television station in the U.S. is broadcasting some format of DTV. It is now time for the industry to look forward to the end of NTSC and the long-awaited surrender of unused spectrum and to plan for the alldigital future of broadcasting.
