Implementing systems such as the EHR and CPOE is a very complex and difficult organizational undertaking. These implementations require political mobilization of the medical and nursing staffs, the reengineering of clinical processes, significant capital commitments, the management of large-scale projects, and major changes to the information technology infrastructure.
