Common Errors

Synonyms should have clinical meaning. While this seems obvious, there are three commons errors: departmental naming, generic naming, and geographically local naming. In the first type of error, which is most commonly seen with radiology examinations, the department that actually performs the test (radiology, laboratory, blood bank, respiratory department, etc.) has had an historical name for the orderable, often reflecting either their own internal billing concerns or the inherited idiosyncrasies of previous decades.
