Install and Configure Hardware Drivers and Devices
Hardware devices, whether internal to a computer or external (a peripheral), require a software driver installed in the operating system. Most times the operating system will detect new hardware and install the appropriate driver, but not always. Drivers are provided on CD by the manufacturer, or you can download them from the manufacturer’s web site. Care must be taken to ensure the correct driver is installed for the model of hardware present. A 64-bit installation of Windows Server 2008 requires a 64-bit printer driver; the 32-bit printer driver for Windows Server 2008 will not work.
