Modeling and Analysis

10.1 INTRODUCTION

Modeling and analysis are used to optimize the design of a thermal system. The processes that are carried out in a system can be represented in terms of mathematical equations for the analysis. Modeling a physical system and analyzing the results of the processes with suitable correlations is known as simulation and it is equivalent to actual experiments on the system. Simulation of any physical process can provide relevant inputs for the design and optimization of a process or system. Once a model of a system is created, it can be subjected to a large number of operating conditions and the outputs will characterize the behavior of the system. An optimum design condition can be derived from these outputs. ...
