Abstract

This chapter seeks to provide the reader with a basic understanding of the factors influencing the operation and control of a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG). While intrinsically a passive device with the HRSG responding to a multitude of plant influences impacting steam production and temperature, there are several fundamental controls associated with a natural circulation HRSG that are common and, for the most part, independent of the original equipment manufacturer.
