Forced Convection
Heat transfer between a surface and a fluid is conventionally known as convection heat transfer. If the fluid movement is accelerated by an external device such as a fan or pump, then the process is known as forced convection heat transfer. It is necessary to understand the hydrodynamic behaviour of the fluid in order to obtain a better understanding of heat transfer phenomena. Flow behaviour generally depends on fluid properties and the boundary conditions. This chapter deals with concepts in forced convection heat transfer.
KEY CONCEPTS
The term forced convection is used if fluid motion and mixing is caused by a fan or pump.
The transfer of heat from the surface of a heat exchanger to the fluid being pumped through it ...
