A VoIP Network Example
The first step in any availability analysis of a network is to look at a network diagram. We must understand what the network looks like. We must also understand what each of the components in the network are and how they are all connected together. We must understand how redundancy is designed into the network and where these redundancies exist.
Figure 5-1 shows a VoIP network that would deliver voice services to people in two office buildings. In the diagram, you can see devices that control the network and devices that allow calls to go into the public switched telephone network (PSTN).
