It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Production considerations and frame rates
7.1 What is the ‘film look’?
If you want HD to look as close as possible to film then the most significant decision you can make is to hire a Director of Photography (DoP) with a film background. No other decision will contribute more than this. The history of film goes back well over a hundred years and this background has created a certain ethic that somehow runs through the veins of a film DoP. Live television is a very different medium and has been going just over 60 years, while digital cinematography has been around a little over 10 years. Hire the people with the relevant experience and hire the best you can afford.
