In Chapter 3, you saw one possible use of a laser: building an alarm system by taking advantage of the way a laser’s output generates a narrow beam. In this chapter, you’ll use the laser beam to draw geometric patterns with spinning mirrors. By spinning the mirrors at different speeds and in different directions, you can create a variety of patterns. This project reuses the LEGO-Compatible Laser built in Chapter 2.
Keep in mind that lasers pose a safety hazard. Before you begin this project, read “Safety Warnings” on page 17. When you bounce a laser beam off a mirror, the beam can go in unexpected directions, so take care when turning on this device.
