Abstract:

The modeling of electromagnetic phenomena is essential in the design of electric power devices. For the applications of high temperature superconductors (HTS) the critical state model used for low temperature superconductors (LTS) provides a valuable starting point. Consistent with the more complex behavior of HTS is the incorporation of such features as the magnetic anisotropy, non-uniformity, thermal activation and close contact with ferromagnetic material.
