Since its discovery in 1986, the BiSrCaCuO cuprate family has given rise to an impressive number of studies both in fundamental and applied research. This chapter relates some fundamental studies carried out in BiSrCaCuO thin films and multilayers. In section 5.1, the main techniques of synthesis are described. Section 5.2 focuses on physical properties specifically studied in thin films. In the first part of this section, the role of anisotropy on the mixed state transport properties of thin films and multilayers is emphasized.
