“I can't believe it's Friday,” said Sam.

“Time flies …” Brian joked.

“… when you're having fun,” agreed Sam. “I've done so much working in this business I forgot the enjoyment from working on it.”

“Watch it, kid. Working on your culture isn't a sometimes thing, it's an all-the-time thing. Imagine Stamina's a child. You don't nurture a child occasionally, right?”

“No,” nodded Sam.

“That's right,” continued Brian. “A child, just like your culture, requires constant nurturing.”

“Even though I don't have kids, I understand. In fact, I often call Stamina my ‘baby.' I hope I become a better parent than the leader I've been.”

“Don't beat yourself up,” smiled Brian. “There's an interesting thing about life. The older you get, the more you'll realize you were never taught the important stuff. For example, I was taught nothing about being a husband. Or about women! And when I got home from the hospital with my first child, I was clueless. Even when I knew about football, I didn't know about coaching people. Life's an exam, and unfortunately you often get the answers after the test.”

“That's true. I knew about programming, but when I started Stamina, I quickly learned I needed sales, marketing, and communication skills because I didn't have them.”

“Yeah,” chuckled Brian, “would be easier if your business or marriage came with an instruction manual, right?”

“I wish.”

“Well, in both cases, you discovered a need for knowledge and you're seeking it out. Growth's about awareness. ...
