Protecting Your Investment
By the time the interviewers reach a consensus on fit, as described in Chapter 11, you should have completed the first 12 steps shown in the Hiring-for-Fit Checklist, which appears as Supplement 1 at the end of this book. You’re now ready to make an offer to the successful candidate. If you’ve had transparent discussions with the candidate about your respective expectations and repeatedly monitored the candidate’s motivation, there should be no surprise in the candidate’s response to the offer.
