“Sourcing” is a word used by recruiters to mean “attracting” suitable candidates who can become productive employees. Effective sourcing techniques usually require a large component of either time or money, but by specifying and developing a range of sourcing techniques—job boards as well as your personal network, for example—for use during the recruiting process, you can exploit your sources to attract the best candidates.
One caveat: Sourcing changes as we speak. And, this chapter is for the internal technical hiring manager, not the professional recruiter.
