The Authors

Magnus Echtler is a social anthropologist and scholar of religion, whose work analyzes entanglements of religion, ethnicity, and power in Africa, through the lens of practice and performance theories. After teaching on the topic of religion in Africa at the University of Bayreuth for years, he has worked as a senior researcher at the Centre for Advanced Studies in the Humanities and Social Sciences “Multiple Secularities – Beyond the West, Beyond Modernities” at Leipzig University since 2020.
