The overriding message of this book is that IT shops can enhance project success by establishing a project management system and following it, in much the same way that Hollywood follows the studio production system. When such a system is built around the management values of the IT shop, these values can be better controlled (and evidenced) from project to project. This emphasis on the system is well founded—but it’s important at the same time to note the criticality of talent.
