I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Chapter 7. Staff to the Genre
The overriding message of this book is that IT shops can enhance project success by establishing a project management system and following it, in much the same way that Hollywood follows the studio production system. When such a system is built around the management values of the IT shop, these values can be better controlled (and evidenced) from project to project. This emphasis on the system is well founded—but it’s important at the same time to note the criticality of talent. From my own observations, dogmatic separation of the two issues is not uncommon: One shop maintains that if the system’s in place, people become interchangeable.
