This chapter is intended for those with very little understanding or experience working with electrical circuits and installing end-use devices. It covers some basics about safety and gives a brief primer on electricity. This chapter provides an understanding of how the home automation devices work with your home’s wiring to achieve your home automation control goals. It is not possible to cover all the details of electricity as used in homes in one chapter, but this chapter can provide a basic understanding of electrical terms sufficient to tackle the projects outlined in this book.
