The home automation process involves changing the existing state or condition of a device, an appliance, a system, or an electronic component from an internal or external stimulus or event, by a person taking an action, or as the result of the movement of time. To achieve that state change through automation, a control message must be sent to the device to be acted on. The condition or state changes can be a simple switching to an on-or-off status, or can be a more complex adjustment such as dimming to a preset level; and that device modification can be an incremental on or variable or both.
