After getting a taste of what’s possible with HALbasic, you might want to upgrade to HALultra. HALbasic does an excellent job of controlling your home automation system, but because it is an entry-level program, it cannot handle all tasks. The added functionality of HALultra includes the direct support of HVAC controls, caller ID functions, reminders, shopping lists, home theater control, weather interfaces, digital sensors, and control of security zones. In addition, HALultra builds on voice mailboxes, address/directory information, stock lookups, devices, macros, house modes, events, and X-10 sensors.
