Chapter 5 Web Hosting with Amazon EC2
In this chapter, you will learn all about the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) infrastructure. We’ll take one more look at the concept of the programmable data center, and then we’ll review the key Amazon EC2 concepts, including the pricing model. We’ll use the AWS Management Console to do the setup work needed to actually launch an EC2 instance, and then we’ll launch one and get it all set up. After that we will talk about the Amazon Machine Image (AMI) in depth, and we will even create one of our own. We’ll wrap up by writing a short (but very cool) program to manipulate Amazon EC2 resources using the API.
