The first time Wendy suggested that I check out a local church after we moved to Louisville, Kentucky, I said, “Not interested.” It wasn’t that I didn’t hold any religious beliefs; I just didn’t see what attending services had to offer. I had some strong, preconceived notions about the experience and didn’t want to spend my Sunday mornings getting a lecture.
“I think you’ll like this church,” she insisted. She had been attending for a few weeks. She knows me better than anybody, so I agreed to give it a try.
