Step 1: Prepare the All-Thread
First, cut the all-thread to 5 5/8 inches using a hacksaw or jigsaw. To make the cut a bit smoother, you can apply a few drops of 3-in-1 multipurpose oil. (Figures 8a-8c.)
Next, file down the tips of the all-thread so that the lock nut will go on smoothly. Remember to apply pressure at an angle. (Figure D.9.)
