In the late 20th and early 21st centuries important research in human relations using the medical model—research performed on location with consequences for real businesses—has continued, and we will be looking at some of these studies in the first half of this chapter, notably my own research on boards of directors, Jack Gabarro and David Thomas’ work on minority executives in the corporate world, and Tsedal Neeley’s work on the linguistic challenges facing global companies.
