When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Women on the Trading Floor . . . Really?
The trading floor isn’t known for being the most balanced place in terms of gender. It has historically been very male-dominated. One female derivatives trader was surprised to hear her boss, on Bring Your Daughter to Work Day, say to his daughter, “Here are the boys. They’re here to make money. Here are the girls. They’re here to look good.” (Yes, that was me . . . the trader, not the daughter.)
Those were the bad old days and much has changed. However, for brevity’s sake, I refer to traders and others who work in the financial world as “he” and “him.” Conversely, probably because sales teams have more women in them than trading teams do, sales people are always referred to as that on the trading floor, ...
