HOW TO RECOGNIZE PEOPLE AND CIRCUMSTANCES THAT CAN POISON YOUR POTENTIAL
It’s amazing how many toxic people there are in the world—both those who never mean to cause us harm and those who seem to delight in it. There are also toxic actions, some from which many of us can never seem to recover. Many great men and women have entered our profession and quit immediately after encountering what I am about to describe in this chapter, which is a tool for helping you anticipate and avoid or deal with such challenges.
Consider the following metaphor; it is an appropriate one here. I call it the Toxic Bomb Field, and I introduced it in Valerie and my previous work, The Holy Grail of Network Marketing.
Imagine that you and I, along with 20 others, are standing on the outer edge of a beautiful field. Green, six-inch-high wheat is blowing in a gentle breeze as far as the eye can see. It’s sunny, 72 degrees, and a breathtaking rainbow arches in the distance. We have a tour guide who is responsible for assisting us on a one-mile walk through this field. On the other side, at the bottom of the glorious rainbow, is the proverbial pot of gold—with your name on it.
Our guide hands each of us a pair of binoculars and suggests that we view the rainbow more closely through them. We discover that he is indeed telling the truth about the pot of gold.
