Making decisions fast
Sometimes you need to respond quickly. You have been asked out; a business proposition has been put to you; an emergency has arisen and you need to do something. This chapter seeks to provide you with help in making an ‘on the spot’ decision.
First, make sure you really do need to make the decision fast. In many cases, explaining that you would like to think about the issue is perfectly reasonable. Don’t feel under pressure to make a decision you feel unsure about unless you absolutely have to. Don’t let people coerce you into a decision (that is what bad door-to-door sales people do); it is reasonable to let a person take time over a decision when possible.
