Dealing with strategy

As a leader, at some point you have to deal with formal strategy. The first challenge is to know what strategy is. The word has become debased. It now means anything that the speaker thinks is important, as in a strategic review, a strategic investment, a strategic campaign. Even strategists disagree about the nature of strategy. In practice, there are two approaches to strategy that are worth knowing about: the classical approach and the modern approach.
