Lead in a global world

If you can lead a global team, you can lead any team. It is the defining challenge of twenty-first-century leadership, because it encompasses all the challenges that the leaders of tomorrow will have to deal with. The global challenges are challenges of distance and control.

In a global team the obvious challenge is distance, which makes communications much harder. Not everyone is awake at the same time, let alone working at the same time. Even if you can manage the logistics of communicating across time zones, distance exposes the deeper challenge of trust.
