Compositing
With most digital programs today, compositing is taken for granted. With animation placed and colored on differently layers, the background on the bottom layer, and a title or even animated effects on a top layer, it is now comparatively easy to render the whole thing out into a movie format without realizing that you are indeed compositing the scene.
