I have heard the saying, “The best things in life are free.” I imagine when this phrase speaks to walks in the park with a loved one, lying in bed with your infant child, watching a sunrise, or having a snowball fight. Each one of those activities does not cost a penny to perform, and they leave lasting memories. However, when we speak of free, it generally comes with a connotation of obtaining something. That something could be getting an object, a service, or a benefit. The truth that is not apparent when given an object or service for “free” is that it comes with a price. Sometimes that price is so heavy you would have been better off paying for the free item and forfeiting the cost.
